Runner's Club is still going strong! We have about 4-5 women now and still meet every Tuesday, and Thursday mornings at 6am. On Tuesdays I try to focus on shorter distances and sprinting. Thursdays consist of a little longer distance workout.

An example of some of our workouts:

  • 4- 400 meter sprints (my time: 1:35-40) with a 100 meter recovery
  • 4- 300 meter sprints (my time: 1:05 ) with a 100 meter recovery
  • 1- 800 meter (3:40)
  • 4- 200 meter sprints (44 sec.)
  • 4- 100 meter sprints (17-18 sec.)
  • 1- cool down lap
Thursday August16, 2012:
  • 2 warm up laps
  • 18 min Interval run: (I ran approximately 2.25 miles)
    • 2 mins. Fast
    • 1 min easy pace
    • 3 mins. Fast
    • 1 min. easy pace
    • 4 mins. Fast
    • 1 min. easy pace
    • 3 mins. Fast
    • 1 min easy pace
    • 2 mins. Fast
  • Timed mile: 7:05!
I really want to bust out a 6 min. mile! I'm so close I can taste it! :) Maybe next time I can get my booty in gear. I really am only running these 2 days a weeks and I feel like it keeps me in pretty good cardio shape. I just wish I had more runner's club attendees! :)

FHE at Jump Street!

We went to Jump Street Monday night for Family Night and met up with our friends. The kids had a blast! Even Callie was enjoying herself, she was climbing like crazy and really funny to watch because she would stick her tongue out as she was focusing on climbing.

 These 3 were inseperable!
This little girl was HILARIOUS!!! She was running all over the place. I was very surprised at how much fun she was having. Callie is kind of a wild card. I never know how she is going to respond to activities like this. At Bounce U she absoluetly refuses to get into a bounce house...? She had a lot of fun. (Probably mostly because of her friend Sydney! If Callie is ever throwing a fit I can usually distract her with saying "Callie do you want to go see Sydney?" or "What do you thinkSydney is doing right now?" I love how well our children play.)

I couldn't get a good video of her but she was really fun to watch running constantly!

First Day of School!!!

This past week has been an emotional rollercoaster! I had quite a few crying moments just thinking about Mason heading off to school! At the beginning of the summer I had Mason registered at school for all day kindergarten. The more I thought about it the more I dreaded the thought of Mason being gone ALL day long. I know some kids can handle that and would be perfectly fine. And while I think Mason could also handle that I'm just not sure that I could! I couldn't shake the nagging bad feeling I had, so I called the school and asked if they had any spots available in the half day class. The woman on the phone told me that they usually were booked solid but that very morning a mother called and dropped her kid from the school! Words cannot express the relief that rushed over me! I felt so calm and at peace putting him in the halfday class.

Mason was sooooooooo ready for school today. All morning long he kept saying "Is it time yet? Can we go now?" He also kept insisting he would walk himself to class. I told him he was crazy and wouldn't even be able to find his classroom! He did eventually agree to let me take him to school and I even got some sweet pictures of him.

When we arrived at the school I was so nervous for him, we had a few mintues before his class started so I wasn't sure what we should do or where to go. As we walked onto the school grounds we immediately saw Mason's cousin Corbin (2nd grader). I was so relieved. We said Hi and I watched as Corbin turned to some of his friends and introduced Mason. I wanted to cry (ok I think I did get teary eyed). I had an amazing feeling that everything would be ok and I could rest easy. As he walked into the classroom I was sad that I couldn't follow him but I know he is in good hands.

Mason starring at a boy crying. Mason tried to help him in the class but didn't really know how to handle the tears, so he just went inside

Noah is SWIMMING!!!!!!!

I could not be more proud of this kiddo!!!! I am so happy that all our hard work has paid off this summer. I can't take all the credit tho, we signed him up for a few sessions of swim lessons through the city of Mesa. Here is his final report card:
Some of his Swimming abilities checked off:
  • Enter/Exit water independently
  • Submerge mouth, nose, and eyes
  • Front float 3+ seconds
  • Front and Back glide 2 body lengths
  • Treading water
  • Roll from front to back and back to front
  • Freestyle kicking
  • Passing between adults
  • Combined arm and leg action on front and back
(He did so well they told me he can skip the next level and move onto "Sea Horses!" YAY for Noah!). I think the city of Mesa lessons definitely helped him with technique, but I think just simply exposing Noah to the pool as much as I did is what gave him the confidence the needed.

Summer is officially over!

This summer has been a blur. It just flew by and I'm not sure I'm ready for it to be over. All summer I have dreaded the fall. Mason starts school tomorrow and while I know he is ready for it, I'm not sure I am. I have had a few emotional moments this past week. I worry about other kids being mean (I HATE bullies), I worry about him picking up bad habits from his peers, but mostly I just worry about how much I will miss him and how having him gone will effect our day to day. I tried to enjoy every moment of this summer, I can't help but have this overwhelming feeling that things will never be the same. I know change is inevitable but that doesn't mean that I welcome it! :)
Here's is some highlights from out wonderful Summer of 2012:
We had a few extra names on my pool pass so we were able to take cousins and friends almost every day we went to the public pools. (Which ended up being about 4 days a week this summer.)

My friend Tami was my saving grace this summer!!! She was super thoughtful and met me at the pool numerous times. It's nice to just have someone there to talk to as you chase children and wade in the water! Words can not express my gratitude to this amazing woman! About a month into the summer Callie decided she didn't like the pool and made it difficult for me. If Tami hadn't been there we might have stopped going to the pools altogether. Thank you Tami, I LOVE YOU!!!!!

We bought a cheap disposable underwater camera and had a lot of fun with it! (Noah and one of his favorite people Danni Pace! She used to be one of my young women, I still don't understand how she can be so photogenic even underwater! Such a cute girl!)
And of course Mason with his cousins:
Mason, Harley, and Allie
 Allie, Mason, andEmilie
Mason, Carson, and Logan
Noah and Sydney!
Callie trying to do a summer-sault into the pool.

I watched my sister Maddy's kids every Tuesday this summer because she had some health problems. To my children, ALL their cousins are CELEBRITIES! Seriously! Mason used to call ANYONE he liked his "cousins". So, my children of course were on cloud nine to get to play with their cousins weekly and asked everyday "Are our cousins coming over today?"

Mason got to go to a Rattler's Game with Grandpa, Uncle Nate and Uncle Jeremy. They took him on the light rail and he had a blast.

We visited the Natural History Museum! aka the Dinosaur Museum!
And of course we had one too many blue slushies to help keep us cool!

Happy 10!!!!!!

Today Ron and I celebrate our 10 year Anniversary!!!!! I can't believe I have been married to this amazing man for 10 years. I don't consider myself a very intelligent person BUT I really was smart in picking this wonderful man as my eternal companion! Some days I just wonder how I knew he was so great??!! I appreciate so many things about him. Ronnie makes me want to be a better person, wife and mother, and he is an excellent father. I could go on and on but most of all I just love how I am amazed everyday at the man his is, his goodness and kindness shown to others, and the love he shows for us, his family!
Thank you babe! I love you and look forward to another 100 years!!!
Ron was a big hit at my office when he had a beautiful flower cookie bouquet delivered to me, along with an extra basket of yummy cookies to share!
Thanks to my parents and my sister Maryann we were able to get a weekend get away in Payson. We enjoyed some hiking, and horseback riding. We did a small hike along the rim, beautiful view!

Our horseback ride took place at Kohls Ranch and took us to a small waterfall. My horse was Taco Bell and Ron got to ride the beautiful Lady Bug.

Me and Lady Bug having a moment! :)
