Sedona Family Trip

“Gubers” in Sedona. (Guthries + Hubers)

I just love the beautiful Red Rock formations and hiking. I got to explore Sedona with some of my favorite people. Mason’s MHS choir had a Chicago trip that took up most of Spring Break so we only got to spend one day in Sedona. We packed a lot of fun into 14 hours. We hiked Fay Canyon and West Fork/Oak Creek. Spent some time walking around downtown Sedona (always entertaining with its unique shops and interesting people watching.) I just love spending some time in nature (notice I said some time not a long time) We had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go back.

Happy Birthday Callie

Happy Birthday Callie. 😍

It’s official. I have a teenage daughter. 😱

This girl is confident, talented, kind, feisty, strong, determined, sassy and thorough. If she decides to do something she does it right. She’s a hard worker and super reliable.

This year I told Callie. “No birthday party”… she asked if she could have some friends over at grandmas for a movie night and hot tubbing. Initially we planned to do everything outside movie and all. But the rainy weather  changed our plans. We chose the movie “That Thing You Do” and I think they enjoyed it! All those girls excited screams during the movie “kissing scene” was my favorite part of her party.

I attempted a GF red velvet cake when Callie mentioned she would love to find a red velvet cup cake sometime. I love how simple this evening was and I hope it was memorable for her. Happy Birthday beautiful girl. Bring on the teenage drama.

Special thank you to my Mom and Dad for providing the hot tub, POPCORN, and home when the rain ruined our plans.

Callie’s Cross Country Season

Last week Callie completed her Cross Country season. I’m so proud of her for trying something outside her comfort zone. She is not a runner and doesn’t particularly enjoy running (at all 🤣) Thank goodness for peer pressure and the promise of new shoes helping her decide to sign up! I had the opportunity to help coach this season which was really fun for me. Franklin Girls team ended up winning 1st place in the City Meet. It was a fun season and I think Callie enjoyed it (even if she says otherwise 😜). Highlights for me:

Bathroom runs with seconds to spare, me running all over the course trying to cheer her on, Callie’s many different hair styles for each meet, and Getting to know her classmates and coaches. The Franklin Jr. High coach Mr. Young usually coaches cross country and has for years. This year his leukemia came back and he was unavailable for most of the season. His wife Julia Young has been substituting for him all semester and she stepped in to coach. I really enjoyed getting to know her and the kids. I’m so happy cross country did not get cancelled and I’m hopeful Callie will give it a go again next year.
