No more 6th Grade for Noah

Noah is such a smart and kind kid. He doesn't get recognized nearly enough for all he does. He is so helpful around the house and super obedient. I was so happy to get the call from his school informing me of his accomplishments and recognition at this end of the school year 6th Grade assembly. He also joined a football league this spring and had his last game this Saturday. I think he learned a lot and enjoyed playing with his friend Sean. He played wide receiver and defense. I'm very proud of him stepping out of his comfort zone and trying something new.

April's Dance Recital

 Her eyes. Sometimes I feel like she only has eyes for me. I don't want her to ever grow up. We joined this dance group only a couple months ago and I'm so glad we did. April just loves it. Thank you Miss Amy. 

During the whole recital she was all smiles and waving to the crowd as if they were all there for just her. She just lights up a room and I was so proud and impressed with how confident she was up there.

Kindergarten Teacher

 All 4 of my kids have had the same Kindergarten teacher and we just love Mrs. Stradling. She is so patient and sweet with the kids. Sadly I didn't get to help in the classroom this year because of stupid covid but I was in contact with Mrs. Stradling constantly via zoom conferences, texting, emails and phone calls. I'm so grateful for hard-working amazing teachers like her. 

Mason's Choir Concert

So happy I could scream right now! I got to go to Mason's choir concert tonight. Finally! He has such great friends in choir and I loved every second of his concert. His solo and playing the bongos were so fun to experience. I can't believe how much he has grown this past year. He's getting real close to passing me in height! So crazy. This summer he is signed up for an Honors Social Studies class, swim team, water polo, Jr. Guarding for service-learning hours and a summer school program at his Jr. high with classes like volleyball, soccer and a fun Marvel class. He is one busy kid and but I know he wouldn't have it any other way.

Callie's Broken Arm

Tuesday, March 23 - Mason and I were assembling a bookcase for his room when I glanced at the couch and noticed my phone lit up with 5 missed calls. It was the kids Gizmo phone watch. I called them back and heard Noah explain to me that I needed to come pick them and the scooters up because Callie had fallen off and was hurting. Initially, I thought they were joking because just the day before he played a trick on me while they were walking Goofy. He called and told me both girls were missing only to laugh at me seconds later as I bounded out of the house frantic to find Callie and April. The boy who cried wolf lives in my house! They finally convinced me to go pick Callie up and after my initial examination I was 90% sure she broken her left wrist. I took her to Urgent care later that evening and it was confirmed she indeed had broken her left Radial bone pretty bad. After a visit to the Orthopaedic surgeon the following week it was determined that surgery wasn't necessary but the break was close to her growth plate and needed to be seriously monitored. Recommended treatment:

1. Full arm cast for 3 weeks

2. Cut off old cast, replace with a new shorter cast for another 3 weeks

3. Wrist brace for 4 weeks as much as possible. Only remove for showering and swimming.

The brace is to prevent her from re-fracturing her wrist again. Callie has handled it all pretty well and I've been impressed with how resilient and independent she's been considering she has only one functioning hand/arm. Also a huge shout out to my friend Danean for suggesting this big blue waterproof arm cast cover. It's been a life-saver. It's made showers and playing in the water so much more manageable and possible.

Callie actually ended up with 3 different casts. Her 2nd cast was cutting her wrist a little and super uncomfortable so we went in and they redid it. I'm so thankful for great Doctors and staff to help us and take care of Callie. Also I'm so grateful she didn't need surgery and her wrist is healing well just in time for summer! (Side note: Callie's friend at school Elle has a mom who is an orthopaedic surgeon and what are the odds that she works at the exact facility that we took Callie too! So of course we made sure to always schedule with Dr. Burns! Callie will be swimming with Elle this summer we are so excited for the summer time shenanigans to begin!)

Mother's Day

Today was a day to go down in the books. My cup runneth over and I absolutely enjoyed it. Ron spoiled me all day. Letting me sleep in and cooking/baking GF treats/food for me all day. The kids were really sweet with their homemade presents and sweet notes. Sacrament meeting was fantastic! Every member of my family had a role in the program (except me! haha). Noah spoke in church for the first time ever, Ron sang with the Elders quorum, Callie and April sang with the primary "I often go walking" and some of the young men played the bells during this song including Mason and Noah. Noah wrote his entire talk all on his own (with a few resource suggestions from me, and Ron helped him tweak transitions.) He did such a great job and was so cute and funny and sweet. He even looked at me one time and smiled (per my request hehe) My favorite part of this whole talk experience was when he was prepping his talk. I was at the gym and he was texting me a lot about it. His thoughts and ideas are so innocent, kind and witty. 

April was so cute. She told me multiple times "for mothers day we are going to do no technology and mom, you get to say all the prayers" I just love that little girl. She kept putting gifts together for me including regifting some of her toys and hand written books. Per my request we did all watch "Oklahoma" Mason fell asleep, Noah was on his phone, April was making presents for me and Callie and Ron seemed to watch most of it. 

Callie was so cute driving home from Grandma and Grandpa Huber's home she asked me to sit by her in the back of the Sequoia. It was a really nice day and I want to remember this. Motherhood isn't always easy but it is very rewarding and I'm so grateful I've been blessed with this family. They are mine forever.
