Family Campout!

We took an impromptu Camping trip with some close friends over Spring Break. More like the Watkins said they were camping so we crashed their family camp out plans! Haha. When Ron says he can "probably" get a couple days off of work I literally JUMP all over that! I'm so glad we went, the kids had a blast and I was reminded of how much I love the outdoors. We didn't camp long (only 1 night) but with our little diva Callie, that was perfect. She actually wasn't THAT bad just made the trip a little tricky with her whining and independent personality. If she wasn't in the jeep she was wandering or scaling the hillside. Ron called her a little "billy goat", she is very coordinated for someone so small and her agility gets her in trouble.
Considering her activities in the past 48 hours I think this battle wound is pretty minor.

What is camping in the great outdoors with out some hiking?!!
We came across a few water spots and Callie would point and whisper "Alligator?" Too funny! I think we have watched one too many Animal Planet or Discovery channel specials.

Camp fire is always my favorite part. Just hanging out, singing, and talking.
Teri cracks me up, all of our pictures together she says we look like a couple. Haha! I think we make a cute couple. Love this girl, I feel like I can tell her anything! I consider her a true "kindred spirit". When they first moved into the ward over a year ago and they spoke in church, I remember thinking "I like them, we are going to be good friends with them."
The highlight of the trip for most kids was catching and playing with lizards. Noah named his Spiderman. There was a few tears shed when we had to saygoodbye to our lizard friends.

Mason and Weston were inseparable (actually all the kids played so well together, even poor Aubrey was a good sport about not having a friend her age). I love how Mason is Weston's biggest fan, EVERYTHING Weston does is SOOO cool. It's a good thing Weston is a good kid and sets a first-rate example!

I love watching kids just be kids. Honestly, it's my favorite thing to do, just watch my kids interacting and playing. Listening to children be imaginative and even mischievous gives me great joy.

Aubrey looked like she was having too much fun swinging over the water so I thought I'd give it a try. Teri had a genius suggestion of kicking my feet up through the triangle. I saw it playing out in my head a whole lot more gracefully. Oh well. I guess I'm just too old and too big to play like a kid, but not too old to have fun and laugh at myself.
Overall a very successful trip, I just wish Callie would have a bit more happy the last few hours. She was just over tired and inconsolable. All of us were tired, dirty and done with the temper tantrums, so we loaded up as fast as possible and head out after dinner. On the drive home she was crying about the usual (who knows what?!?!) and Ron turned to me and said "In a couple days we will be really glad we came" Lol. So true.
