I can't believe I caved. I gave in and did a small birthday party for Noah. I have mixed feelings about the whole birthday party thing. I think it's a little overrated and overdone. That being said I know how much kids look forward to their birthdays so I gave in. It was a very small low key party with a few friends, Noah was adamant about it being an ALL boy party. When I asked Noah what kind of a party he wanted his IMMEDIATE response was "a Spiderman birthday!" So that's what we did!
My favorite part of the party was the "photo booth" I let them pick a costume to wear, (we had some generic bad guys, a Peter Parker, a Spider-man, and bank robber attire). Maryann took the pictures to a 1-hour place and had them developed so the boys could go home with their pictures.
Pin the spider on the web. Breanna came and saved me by helping with the kids and just being another adult body while Maryann was gone! I'm so lucky to have both these women by my side!
The pinata was hilarious. Everyone was very good about taking their turns and only hitting it a few times each, No one really made a dent in it until Mason took a few whacks at it and separated the head and chest. Callie even took a turn! (Shocker! she wanted nothing to do with the pinata at Mason's party, this time around she kept chanting "Hit his head off! Hit his head off!")
The party was a success but I'm glad it's over, poor Noah! Every year because of Ron's birthday and then Mason's I'm kind of "birthdayed" out when his comes. I think that's why I wanted to do the party for him. Because I know I have a bad attitude. I just want happy appreciative children, not kids always wanting more more more. Oh well. I just cross my fingers and pray everyday that I'm doing what's best for them and raising them right. I'm grateful for the blessing of motherhood, thankful for the challenges but extremely happy to being living in the moment right now. Noah is one of my many blessings. His smile can light up a room, I love how his eyes light up when he grins. He is a very thoughtful child, doesn't like to be the center of attention but happy to play and be active. He has a very active imagination and LOVES legos right now, especially the sets that come with lego "people". He is very loving to his siblings and to me. He is constantly telling me "Mom. I like you."
I LOVE the picture idea! They look so cute!! What a fun little party.
