Mason's Elk Hunt!

"He caught an elk!" (As April and Callie would say) Mason, Ron and Noah just got back from their hunting trip. You could say it was a success! Grandpa Huber was the only Huber to get a tag this year. Sadly, due to his back problems and surgery he wasn't able to make the hunt this year. He generously transferred his tag to Mason so they could go on a hunt. They had a really great time. I'm probably not going to do justice to the hunt story but here's what happened:

The men had been hunting for 4 days and saw 100's of Elk, lots of deer, 5 wolves and a bear! Day 5 was the last day of the hunt before they had to head home. A herd of 60 or so elk were seen off the side of the road as they were driving to a hunting spot. The female elk (cows) were so smart and every time the herd stopped or paused the cow elks would huddle around the Bulls to protect them. Finally, after tracking them for a couple miles the opportunity arose and Mason took the shot. The Bull dropped instantly. Mason told me after that he had been a little anxious so he said a little prayer to help calm his excitement/nerves. Huge thanks to Uncle Make, Uncle Kurt, and Uncle David for feeding and keeping my boys alive. I'm so grateful they came home safely and while I feel bad for this beautiful animal I'm glad he did not suffer and I'm also incredibly thankful for the meat he will provide to feed my family. PS- Ron has been asking me to go hunting with him for years now... after hearing the boys talk excitedly about their experience this time I am tempted to go experience and witness that myself. I think IF I do go I will definitely be in charge of taking pictures. (Insert eye roll now) I posted every single pic they had... literally. That's it
