Goooo Packers!

Football Season is back in swing! Mason had his first game today. His team is the Green Bay Packers this time around. They meet 2 times a week for practices (which can be stressful!) and have games every weekend (mostly Saturdays but there are a couple Friday night games). Mason's coach is a little scary and yells a lot but I don't think he is emotionally abusive (yet...) I'm keeping my eye on him. I really like the assistant coach, Coach Jensen is very patient and kind to the boys it's a really nice balance.

Mason's played defense most of the game which I do think is better for him. When he focuses he can be pretty good at getting the flags. He got to run the ball on offense 2 times and even got a touchdown! I was so excited! Sadly, I'm one of those embarrassing moms screaming with excitement and dancing on the sidelines! When I watch him play I see potential in him, it's just unlocking that potential and getting him to listen and pay attention. He's your typical 6 year old fun loving kid and I wouldn't change that for anything. I do worry about the "killer" instinct kicking in though. Don't get me wrong I don't want an obsessively aggressive kid (those kind of kids are little annoying in my opinion). But sometimes I feel like he doesn't try very hard. He really seems to enjoy it and I love what it is teaching him, plus it's really good healthy exercise!
Mason and his buddy Ethan! (2nd generation play cousins!)
Ethan's mom Erin and I go way back, we used to play as kids!
First game observations:
Mason walked out on to the field holding his water bottle at one point (LOL) the coach had to take it from him
He ran out with a cooling towel around his neck
Got a TOUCHDOWN!! (Probably about a 30 yard run)
Pulled a few flags!!
I noticed that if he didn't get the flag right away or on the first try he wouldn't really run very hard to try again and get it. (I'm hoping that will change with time and experience)
