April’s Baptism

I don’t know who was more excited for this day to come… Mason or April. When Mason was 8 years old we went to his friend Colter’s baptism. It was a “stake baptism” so there were a few other kids getting baptized that we did not know. During the baptism Mason noticed one of the children was getting baptized by their older brother. He was really impressed by this and asked me a few questions. “How old do you need to be to baptism someone?” When I explained you needed to be a worthy priesthood holder and that he could get that priesthood when he is 16. Immediately following this conversation I could see Mason deep in thought and I could tell he was doing the math as he starred at my pregnant belly. "I can baptize April!" I told Mason he needed to be nice to April because it was her choice will baptize her. (When she was younger he would insist he was baptizing her and she told him “no! I want Mom to baptize me!” Haha such a sweet mommas girl.

Well, Mason kept his end of the bargain. He is a worthy priesthood holder AND he eventually got permission from April. :) Her baptism was magical. I loved it all and I think April really felt the spirit she told me after she felt so warm inside when she came up out of the water. April has been planning her baptism for a long time now and she was very specific about who she wanted to speak/pray/sing/ and do the music. I worked really hard planning everything in advance so I could sit back and enjoy this wonderful day. I have such great family and friends helping make this day smooth (my mom took care of the programs, Lindsey and Nanna helped with desserts afterwards I really am so blessed and spoiled) Callie was so sweet helping me get April ready in the bathroom right after the baptism. We brought April 2 towels, one so she could step on it and dry her feet while we helped her dry off with the other towel and get dressed. After the baptism we waited for a little while for Mason to come out of the dressing room. While waiting I leaned over to Ron and asked if he should go check on Mason. Mason finally emerged from the changing room with a bright smile on his face. While Ron was announcing the remainder of the program Mason leaned over and whispered to me "I didn't have a towel!" LOL I felt so bad! I had totally spaced bringing a towel for Mason. He ended up using another jumpsuit in the bathroom to dry himself off. Poor kid he was such a good sport about it and we chuckled about the fact that I had brought little April 2 towels and Mason didn't even get one. At least he remembered to bring a change of underwear (but even that has a funny story to it! I guess when he arrived at the church building before the baptism he realized he had forgotten a change of underwear. So him and Noah rushed back to the house and he totally biffed it in the street trying to hurry while holding his boxers! haha I'm just glad he was ok and didn't get visibly beat up from that.) I'm so grateful to be part of this amazing church and my heart is so full witnessing my youngest child choose to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
